Catherine, a diptych by Maes, captures a woman’s hesitation between two words, a moment of suspension to which only the barely visible change in the position of the mouth bears witness. Felten-Massinger traverse Belgium as well as other countries with their ‘Caravana Obscura’. At carefully selected places, they stop for as long as it takes to record an image of the landscape on photo paper on the inside wall of their caravan. De Gobert’s photograph is consistent with his works on (re)constructed artists’ studios to scale. In this studio, where light plays a defining role, all attention is drawn to a disproportionately large stone, like a piece of a raw, primeval mass. Another idiosyncratic approach to architecture can be found in Roncada’s work, Model, which shows an empty room where part of the ceiling lighting has come down. The picture of a display case from which the exhibited object has disappeared, is part of Borghouts’s series The show.
