MUSEUM TO SCALE 1/7

Ann Veronica Janssens

(Folkestone, 1956 )

In her artistic practice, Ann Veronica Janssens explores the sensitive experience of reality. Initially using mainly industrial materials (concrete, wood and glass), she has been using more ephemeral materials since the 1990s. Her installations, video projections, interventions, photographs and sculptures immerse the viewer in a dizzying universe. With light, color and sound, Janssens creates experiences that heighten perception and awareness of the outside world. Minimalist works or interventions underscore the fluid or ephemeral nature of reality. In this way, the act of conscious perception becomes at least as important as reality itself. In 1997 Ann Veronica Janssens exhibited solo at the M HKA, two years later she represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale. In 2020, she received an exhibition at the Danish Louisiana Museum of Modern Art .
