Johan Tahon

(Menen, 1965 )

Stream of Salt (2012)

3 SCULPTURES

Stream of Salt appears to be an ode to human creation. The central figure in plaster is typical of Tahon's idiosyncratic figuration. The elongated, white figure seems connected to a wall by a kind of umbilical cord. The sculpture on the opposite wall also seemingly refers to a creative primal force. Tahon himself says of his sculptures that they explore “the condition of ‘man’ as a searching and pensive being.”
