MUSEUM TO SCALE 1/7

In 1995, only years after graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent where he studied Sculpture, Johan Tahon was discovered by Jan Hoet. A year later he was invited to take part in De Rode Poort, an exhibition at the S.M.A.K. Tahon’s oeuvre is characterised by tall human figures in plaster, but the sculptor also works in bronze and polyester. In recent years, he has also experimented with smaller works in ceramic, which he coats with a thick, white glaze. Tahon’s works can be found in private and museum collections, both in Belgium and abroad. The University Hospital Antwerp (UZA) has a large open-air sculpture by Tahon on display.
