The Musical Chair (2012)

The film installation The Musical Chair is a recreation of a 2007 16mm black-and-white film on three tracks, played continuously, without sound. The film shows from different angles how a chair - traditionally a symbol of authority and dignity, as well as simply a ubiquitous piece of household furniture - is attacked by three dogs. The animals compete with each other in their attempt to take possession of the chair. In the end, the chair is completely reduced to splinters. The dogs' attack on the everyday object suggests the fragility of civilized society while implying a destructive attack.
