Last Words Delusion (2011)

COPPER WIRE, MIRROR AND SPOTLIGHT

What to a mortal is his last words is to an artist the design of his own museum room. How does the artist want to be remembered and how does he want to relate to the canon? Based on a light source, a mirror and the reflection of a wire sculpture on the wall, the words 'last words delusion' appear in Eerdekens' museum room. In this way, he relativizes and negates the importance of his last words. The artist seems to suggest that the absolute control of memory or canonization is an illusion that it is better to let go of a priori.
