Lost memories (2013)
MIXED TECHNIQUE
As time passes, humans lose the ability to concretely imagine what happened to their ancestors decades ago. That slow collective forgetting of what is essential to an understanding of our history is depicted by Ronny Delrue in Lost memories. On eight small formats, he paints away details of various facets of the lives of his parents' generation. By adding this new layer to everyday images from a bygone era, the artist makes his viewers aware of how difficult it has become to imagine the meaning that this dying generation attached to a day at the seaside or army service.
