Twelve works offer a balanced overview of the oeuvre of these three artists and Belgian minimal art. At the end of the 1960s, Etienne Van Doorslaer found his definitive visual language: a prearranged grid determines the geometric surface distribution of subtly monochrome canvases that invite pure contemplation and contemplation through repetition and symmetry. A similar meditative effect is produced by the opposite drawings of Dan Van Severen, who, since the early 1970s, no longer works with paint and thus becomes detached from matter. With extremely sober lines, elementary forms such as rectangle and square, and with particular attention to the cross motif - which unites the horizontal and vertical - Van Severen strives for the purely spiritual that transcends the material and optical perception.
