Death Row Fashion (2013)
WALL PAINTING
Jan Van Imschoot's museum room is lit like the cell where the death row inmate awaits execution. That room on the border between life and death Van Imschoot provided a mural. The words 'Death Row Fashion' clash there with the frivolous colors of the fashionable dresses in the background. In this way, Van Imschoot suggests the perversion that underlies our consumer society, in which the whipping up of human desires and lust is more important than human dignity.
