OPEN-CUT MUSEUM BOX IN CARDBOARD BOX
Kelly Schacht builds on the concept of the transportable scale museum and presents a folding museum room. The miniature room she was provided was cut up, folded and stored in a cardboard box. On the outside of the box, the entire process is illustrated as an instruction manual for a museum do-it-yourself kit. Also in 2011, Schacht created a large white neon sign with the title of this work in the singular: Where the rooms are a collection of our mind. This work, which was shown in several locations, invites the viewer to see, for example, the rooms of a castle as carriers of thoughts and memories. In other words, it takes on meaning based on one's own experience of the space. The minimal text adaptation here maximizes resonance. In the museum to be reconstructed, on the one hand - because of the multiplicity of rooms and works - the number of carriers of meaning explodes, and on the other - because of its function as a public space - the number of interpretations, unlocked from different individual experiences and a collective memory.
