Hannes Van Severen

Hannes Van Severen comes from a dynasty of artists. His grandfather was the Minimalist painter Dan Van Severen (1927-2009). His father Maarten Van Severen (1956-2005) was an architect who achieved international fame as a furniture designer. And finally, his brother David (1978) is also a renowned architect. Hannes Van Severen’s artistic practice relentlessly explores the boundary between the utility of an object, the autonomy of a work of art and its integration in an architectural setting. Together with his wife Fien Muller, Hannes Van Severen runs the internationally acclaimed design agency Muller Van Severen.
