With a stunning eye for detail, Robert Devriendt creates hyper-realistic miniature paintings. His tactile rendering and refined technique are a means for the artist to explore the functioning and interpretation of images. He presents them as cinematic montages in small series. The connection between the various paintings - like the images of a film noir - is not always immediately clear. Only when the viewer comes closer, compares and dares to associate freely, Devriendt's oeuvre acquires meaning.
