Wim Delvoye

(Wervik, 1965 )

Wim Delvoye likes to profile himself as a controversial artist, entrepreneur and businessman. For his multimedia works, the self-proclaimed “super-artist” enters into collaborations with experts and artisans. In this way, Delvoye resists the romantic cliché image of a thorough artistry. Incessantly he challenges the boundaries of the political, economic and cultural expectations that are intertwined with art and the art market. Delvoye gained public acclaim with his saw discs and concrete mixers in Delft blue, his tattooed pigs and with scatological works such as Cloaca (2000).
